Every so often an artist comes along with certain uniqueness to their music that grabs you from the opening song and gets better with each listen. Royce Raymond, a.k.a.24K has shaped a brand of music that combines Rap and Hip Hop with a distinctive and positive poetic style. The mixture creates an emotional, energetic and highly contagious sound. He continues to experiment with new ideas and sounds as his music keeps evolving. 24 combines solid introspective writing skills with natural musical talent. He captures his sound with compelling hooks and carefully chosen lyrics which enables him to connect with the many who listen. Having grown up around Boston he's been involved in the east coast music scene and decided to move to L.A. for a year in 2008 to work with new people on different projects, expand his musical abilities and get a feel for west coast music. He performed throughout L.A. and opened for Donnie Klang at the Shark club. While there, he interned at Interscope Records working on projects associated with Jonathan Merritt. Before leaving L.A. he finished his second demo. It was a difficult decision to leave, but he is back in Boston temporarily to spend time with his family and continues to write and record new material. At the urging of his friends, he recently entered a poetry competition and won first place with a reading and a cappello version of his song "My Kind".
After performing at The Terrace in Pasadena C.A. which ended with a standing ovation, Royce began preparing for the "Russia 2009 Awareness Tour" with several other artists including Dj DoItAll and Kendrick Harmon. He performed 20 shows in 10 days and gave 3 public speeches on the topic of the positive and negative effects of the Hip Hop Culture both internationally and domestically. He was also a guest speaker at the youth community centers of Irkutsk where key politicians and city leaders discussed the methods by which Hip Hop can combat the rise of youth violence.
In addition to music, Royce is also an actor and SAG member who has been in several independent films as well as the major motion picture "Shutter Island" starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley. He placed in the top 10 in every acting category and won 1st place in sitcoms at the 2008 International Modeling & Talent Association. While in L.A. he took classes to refine his acting abilities and took advantage of the Hollywood acting scene.
When the earthquake occurred in Haiti, Royce immediately stopped everything and got involved in the relief efforts. Being of Haitian descent and having family there, this hit especially close to home. 24 worked tirelessly with colleges and religious organizations and quickly became one of the main organizers/go to person in Boston. Several colleges asked him to speak with students and he was interviewed by area newspapers. It was over a week before he knew his family in Haiti was safe. Although he is back to writing and recording, he is still involved in the relief efforts and continues to lecture on the situation there.
Royce is again expanding his abilities, experimenting with R&B, collaborating with other artists and beginning work on another demo. He recently performed at the Castillo club in Everett MA. as well for the Boston leg of the U.S. "Job Creation Tour" in Copley Square where he was incredibly well received. We are in the process of planning more club dates for the near future and will keep you updated.
Besides his talent, he is professional, enthusiastic and charismatic. We know he has all it takes to be extremely successful.
