Biography

Somerville, MA

3rddy Baby, born L.J. Almanzar, is a hip hop artist hailing from the Boston area. Born in the Dominican Republic, he and his family immigrated to the United States when he was five, to seek medical attention after he suffered life threatening injuries in a house explosion involving an electric generator. His first stop was Texas, then later called New York City home for a while until he and his family finally made Boston their permanent home.

After bouncing around the Boston Area from home to home, 3rddy Baby got his start in music after landing in the neighborhood of East Somerville,Ma, a suburb of Boston. Teaming up with longtime high school friend and lyrist, Wilner “Suits The RoleModel” Alexis, they started a group called DCFAM (D.ark C.loud F.amily A.nd M.oney) that later went on to include other members: R&B crooner Renzo, guitarist Maro Chon and lyricist K.Street.

After several years of doing shows all across New England and parts of the East Coast, and putting out several mixtapes with the group, 3rddy Baby began work on his solo project, "The Definition". His debut solo effort was never completed and with good reason. The first single, “I'm on Fire (Beam Me Up)”, released in anticipation of the disc, made it’s radio premiere New Year’s Day 2011 on the local Clear Channel radio station JAMN 94.5 FM by Traffic Hour DJ and PD, DJ Pup Dawg. This catapulted the song and its music video to receive an unprecedented regional and national response not seen of a local Boston area artist in a long while. This new found "buzz" helped take him and his DCFAM team to new heights and eventually landing them on bigger and larger platforms in front of bigger and larger audiences.

In the middle of all the success, 3rddy Baby was forced to take time away from music to deal with unforeseen personal matters. He reemerged months later with a string of remixes to some of America's top hits playing on the radio and then went on to drop a single called “Body of a Model”, a never released song from his never released solo disc.

Now, with some of the best and worst of times in his rear view, 3rddy Baby chronicles some of those experiences and emotions on his latest highly anticipated release "Grind Heavy". Featuring hometown burgeoning rapper, Jus Clide and DCFAM teammate, Maro Chon (previously featured on "I'm on Fire"), the trio collaborate to give a ultra-poetic soon to be classic. Teaming up with "I'm on Fire" producer, Louis Bell and recorded with Robbie Rowland at his Echo Studios, this record is poised to be the follow up everyone's been waiting for from 3rddy Baby post “I'm on Fire”.

Often referring to himself as “Mr. Oh So ProLiFic” and “New England Rap's Neo”, his music doesn't veer too far off from those self-proclamations. It's hard to deny that he is the elite class of artist New England has been waiting for.
