"Now I ain't here to debate the best rapper of all time / but I'm top five signed or unsigned" - F1rst Person: "Hip Hop"
F1RST PERSON is a multi-dimensional artist. As an MC, producer, and poet hailing from Springfield, Massachusetts, he has performed in venues in New York City and Boston, as well as colleges and clubs throughout New England. He has opened up for Ghostface, the Nappy Roots, Swollen members, Sean Price, and Planet Asia.
His versatile skills as an MC have allowed him to collaborate with fellow artists from New England, the Mid-Atlantic, the Midwest, and the South. His founding of the group C.R.U.M.B.S. with Tenth Noble helped to form F1rst Person’s artistic vision. He began his collaborations with Chicago based beat maker Streetz, whose hardcore, edgy, and gritty beats provided the initial soundscape for F1rst Person’s intricate lyrics. Through his desire to expand his artistry, he worked with Memphis producer Foley whose mastery of beat creation, from down south bounce to east coast boom-bap, complimented F1rst Person’s clever wordplay and rhyme scheme. Even as he broadened his musical reach, he remained close to his roots by working with Massachusetts based producers Skit and DJ Rell. This successful relationship with producer and engineer Skit created the poignant single “Hip Hop”.
F1rst Person’s talents have brought him to connect with fellow performers and activists. With KwikStep and Rockafella of Full Circle Productions, F1rst Person contributed to a successful Off- Broadway production, “Innaviews”, to rave reviews in the New York Times. The New York Times called F1rst Person’s contributions “vivid and classy”. In his capacity as a poet, he participated in DJ Rell’s Tastemaker’s Soul showcases of spoken word artists in the New England area. As an advocate for social change F1rst Person worked with community leaders to address pressing issues impacting his community. His passion for inspiring and nurturing young talent led him to work with Project 2050 in numerous roles as an artist and mentor.
F1rst Person’s drive to excel has led him to create his own beats as featured in his upcoming EP. The lead single “To The Top” highlights F1rst Person’s intense lyrical ability and tenacious flow. His desire to collaborate with director Howard Grandison of MTV, who shares his passion for Hip Hop, led to the production of the “To The Top” video*. With graphics by Dress Code and cinematography by Kareem Black, the video eloquently merges imagery and audio to craft a work of visual excellence.
