Joey was not your average youth. He always found himself somewhere on the outside. What nobody knew at this time, himself included was that this was the beginning of his separation from 'average'. Diagnosed with a lifelong chronic illness at a very young age he knew the true meaning of 'different'. Often picked on by his peers for his appearance due to side effects of medication, he began to avoid large gatherings and kept to himself. Joey learned at a young age that the world was going to be a very tough place and that in order to make it he was going to have to find some form of a coping mechanism. After battling this illness for a few years it finally got the upper hand and he was forced to go under the knife. This is where he was introduced to his first love, pain medication. After his experience with pain medication at the young age of 14, all bets were off. Some years previous around the age of 11 or 12, Joey recalls; praying for snow days so that he could go down to his aunt's house in Woburn, MA and hang in his cousin's room and listen to all of his old tapes and Cd's and play video games. Those tapes and Cd's consisted of classics such as Cypress Hill's 'Black Sunday', 2Pac's 'All Eyez On Me', Snoop Dogg's 'Doggystyle' and Dr. Dre's 'the Chronic' Joey immediately began to develop his love for hip-hop. Joey began writing rhymes at a young age somewhere in middle school and recalls getting in trouble with an 8th grade teacher for having a notebook with exposed vulgarity. The first ever recording came several years later in 2000 in the basement of his parents house over beats he downloaded from the internet He recorded his first lyrics on a tape deck he borrowed from his grandparents who lived in the in-law apartment. From the moment he first attempted to rhyme his first few syllables, it was apparent that there was an absolute NEED for this music to reach as many people as possible. If you have ever suffered from any sort of shortcoming or loss, have had the power to overcome it or you need that boost to help drive you, then you have found the artist for yourself!! Joey is a monster of perseverance, bringing truth to the meaning of second chance. Do yourself a favor, if you have not already, start Paying Attention!!!
